Over his 40 years in Christian leadership, Stephen has had
opportunities to preach, teach and consult in more than 50 different countries
across the world.
His ministry began as Senior Pastor of Stopsley Baptist
Church, Luton, before spending 12 years as Senior Minister of Gold Hill Baptist
Church in Buckinghamshire – one of the largest Baptist churches in England.
Stephen is also hugely involved in a wide variety of
Christian initiatives, both in the UK and internationally. He is a
Vice-President of the Bible Society and holds positions on a number of Councils
of Reference, both as a member and as Chair, including Open Doors, Jews for
Jesus and The Rooftop International Ministries.
A
prolific author, Stephen has written more than 20 books, edited a variety
of Bible study series and small group
resources and authored numerous articles and blogs. He enjoys spending time
with his family – his wife Janet, their three adult children and their five
grandchildren.
Ian was an arrogant happy atheist until he was shocked and a
bit annoyed to be convinced that the whole Jesus resurrection thing was true,
and he knew he had to face the facts and become a Christian. He studied at
Moore College.
He has worked in a variety of jobs then as chaplain at Shore
school, then at St Barnabas Broadway which burnt down (but he has an alibi),
then in the CBD of Sydney for 4 years and now with a church in Wanniassa
Canberra.
He loves being with his wife and children, is a keen though
below par fisherman, is addicted to music of many types. He loves helping
people see and feel how brilliant it really is to know and follow Jesus - even
though it’s pretty tough sometimes.
