About Richard Coombs

Richard is Teaching Pastor at Wattle Park Chapel and also Chair of Belgrave Heights Convention. He is an ordained minister with the Baptist Union of Victoria.

Richard pastored two Baptist churches in New Zealand before coming to Melbourne in 1988. In Melbourne, Richard pastored Beaumaris Baptist and North Balwyn Baptist churches and was Australian Director for MECO Australia (Middle East Christian Outreach – 2001-2022).

Richard has travelled extensively through the Middle East and preaches regularly in churches and at Mission Conferences.

He is married to Margaret, and together they have three married sons and eight grandchildren.

Greetings from David Cook

David Cook is a graduate of Sydney Missionary and Bible College and Moore Theological College. For ten years David pastored two Presbyterian churches, one in country NSW, Wee Waa and one in inner city Ashfield, in Sydney.

For 26 years David was the Principal of SMBC (1986-2011). For all those years David lectured in Preaching. For 13 years he was the Chairman of the Katoomba Christian convention(1991-2004). After leaving SMBC David and his wife, Maxine set up the Expository Preaching Trust in order to encourage faithful and engaging preaching of the Bible.

David runs Preaching Clubs, called ‘Lather and Shave’, which consist of 12 preachers meeting quarterly in order to encourage one another in preaching. David preaches at conventions throughout the world as well as continuing to lecture on preaching at Colleges in Australia.

David has been married to Maxine for 50 years, they have 5 adult children and 15 grandchildren. 

David will be speaking on ‘The Jesus people met’ at BHC Easter 24.

About Alasdair Paine

Alasdair Paine is Vicar of St Andrew the Great Church in Cambridge, UK. Previously he served St Leonard’s Church in Exeter and Christ Church Westbourne, in Bournemouth. Prior to ministry training at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford, Alasdair studied geography at Trinity College in Cambridge and was Head of Geography at Eton College.

Alasdair became a Christian in Cambridge as a first-year student, through the witness of the Christian Union.  I had been an atheist in my teens until real Christianity was explained to me.

He speaks regularly at Keswick Conventions in UK and is passionate about helping people understand the Bible. He is married to Rachel, and they have three grown-up children.
